About the role

East Hotel is seeking an experienced Banquet Operations Manager to plan, coordinate and oversee the delivery of conferences, corporate functions and events within a busy hotel and hospitality environment.

The role is responsible for coordinating all operational aspects of conferences and events, including client liaison, event logistics, staffing coordination, catering delivery, and on-the-day event management to ensure exceptional service standards and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

The Banquet Operations Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Assist in the management of a busy, quality-focused conferencing and events department and external catering operations if required.
  • Grow the business by lifting the profile of conferencing and events through exceptional customer service and high-quality food and beverage offerings.
  • Ensure all staff are trained and assessed & regularly re-trained in all areas of customer service and set-up of conference and events spaces.
  • Meet and greet clients on the day of the event.
  • Confirm catering times and happenings of the event with the client according to the BEO and then liaise with the chefs and EM of any changes.
  • Deal with the day to day operations of conferences by delivering catering, assisting with AV connections / problems.
  • Be the operation POC to all conferences and events during the shift.
  • Set up and pack down conference rooms
  • Create handover for the evening operations team and hand over day time events to evening
  • events/ set up to the F&B manager and EM.
  • Communicate with management of any damages, issues to the conference rooms &
  • equipment.
  • Communicate with management of any issues / complaints / food feedback of conferences
  • Communicate with the chef of any time changes, food requirements.
  • Attend BEO meetings with EM, chef, F&B manager & coordinators.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, candidates must have:

  • AQF Diploma level qualification or at least 3 years of highly relevant employment experience as a substitute 
  • Experience in similar management roles - preferably Italian-style venues.
  • Current Food Safety Supervisor certification or willingness to acquire
  • RSA certification or willingness to acquire
  • Demonstrated experience in: people management and leadership, ordering, rostering.
