The Oriental Hotel Tumut is a regional pub at the gateway to the beautiful Snowy Valleys which is focussed on quality food & beverages, events & outstanding customer service.

We are looking for a committed and hands-on Bar Manager to work closely with our Venue Manager to assist in the management, direction and the daily operations and can help lead the team to success.

About the Role

As Bar Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the bar while supporting the wider hotel team to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

This role is suited to a strong hospitality leader who thrives in busy environments, leads from the front, and understands how to balance service, team culture and operational standards.

You will work closely with management on promotions, events, staffing and venue growth while maintaining a strong presence on the floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage bar staff across daily operations 

• Deliver exceptional customer service and venue atmosphere 

• Ensure smooth service during high-volume trade periods 

• Manage staffing levels in line with business demands 

• Maintain compliance with RSA, WHS and licensing requirements 

• Assist with stock control, ordering and supplier relationships 

• Support the delivery of events, functions and live entertainment 

• Work with management on promotions and social media initiatives 

• Maintain venue presentation and operational standards 

• Build strong relationships with regular patrons and the local community 

• Support training, development and performance management of staff 

About You

You will bring:

• Previous experience in bar management or a supervisory position

• Strong leadership and team management skills 

• Excellent knowledge of bar operations, liquor service and compliance 

• Ability to lead from the front in a fast-paced environment 

• Strong organisational and communication skills 

• A hands-on approach with flexibility across a 7-day roster 

• Passion for hospitality, entertainment and customer experience
