About Focus Finance
We’re Focus Finance, a high-performing, low-ego brokerage that thrives on solving complex lending puzzles while keeping the experience clear, calm and client-first. We’re big on transparency, culture, and doing the right thing…and we back that with flexibility, hybrid work options, team connection days, and remuneration that matches capability.
The role (read this if you want ZERO confusion)
This is a Broker Associate role; the operational backbone of the lending process. You will support our Mortgage Brokers by preparing and submitting loan applications, managing the file from fact find through to settlement, and keeping every stakeholder (client, broker, lender, valuer, solicitor, agent, accountant) moving in the right direction.
✅ This role IS: client communication + credit/document analysis + workflow management + lender follow-up + packaging deals properly.
❌ This role is NOT: a “broker” role (yet), also not purely admin, and not a reception-style position. It’s a high-trust support role where your accuracy and follow-through matter.
What you’ll be doing (day-to-day)
You’ll be responsible for a file moving cleanly through the lending journey, including:
Acting as a point of contact for customers, lenders, banks, valuers, solicitors, agents and accountants
Reviewing financial information and collating verification documents to finalise the fact find
Coordinating valuations and repricing requests
Preparing and packaging loan applications and supporting documents for efficient lodgement
Managing the pipeline through to settlement and keeping clients informed
Maintaining the business database/CRM and supporting office/system administration
What makes a GREAT Broker Associate here (what we’re actually hiring for)
We’re looking for someone who is:
Client-obsessed (warm, responsive, calm, and professional)
Growth mindset (you take feedback well and keep leveling up)
Naturally curious (you ask smart questions and like finding the “why” behind things)
Comfortable with challenge (you stay steady when things are busy/complex)
Brave and accountable (you own mistakes early, raise risks, and back yourself to solve them)
Sharp with numbers and documents (you can spot missing info, inconsistencies, and risk)
Naturally organised (you run a pipeline, you don’t just “do tasks”)
A proactive communicator (you keep stakeholders moving and prevent delays)
High integrity / ethical (no shortcuts, no guesswork, no ego)
Attentive to detail, ownership, and ability to learn systems quickly
Competent with Microsoft Office and working across multiple systems
Backgrounds we love (because they translate fast)
If you’re coming from any of the below, you’ll likely be strong in this role:
Certificate IV in Finance & Mortgage Broking (or willingness to work towards it)
Strong customer service (banking, call centre, hospitality leaders, relationship roles)
Prior experience in broker support, lending support, settlements, credit, or high-volume finance environments; end-to-end understanding of loan processing from lodgement to settlement (e.g., that fast, high-volume, detail-heavy workflow)
Don’t tick every box? That’s okay.
If you don’t have direct broker or lending experience, tell us why you want to enter the finance industry, why Broker Associate is the right starting point for you, and what makes you confident you’ll succeed in a detail‑heavy, client‑first role.
What you’ll get at Focus Finance
Hybrid / flexibility (role-appropriate and structured)
Culture that values team goals, inclusion, integrity, and transparency, including wellbeing and fundraising activities and EAP support program.
Offsite Team days and genuine connection (not “forced fun”, actual good humans)
$75k–$100k remuneration depending on capability and experience
Real opportunity to build a long-term finance career (Broker Associate is a powerful foundation)
