We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Chef to oversee the daily kitchen operations of our busy café, delivering exceptional food and service to our guests. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced a la carte environment and enjoys leading a team.
Reporting to the Resort Manager, the Lead Chef will be responsible for managing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, menu development, stock control, team leadership, and maintaining high food safety standards.
This role requires flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays.
Oversee daily kitchen and food service operations
Prepare and present high-quality café meals and daily specials
Develop and update menus with seasonal and creative offerings
Lead, train, roster, and supervise kitchen staff
Maintain high standards of food quality, portion control, and presentation
Manage stock ordering, inventory, and supplier relationships
Monitor food costs and minimise wastage
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health & safety requirements
Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
Work collaboratively with the Café Manager and front-of-house team to deliver excellent customer service
Contribute to operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous experience as a Lead Chef in a café or restaurant with 80+ seats and takeaway operations across 7 days
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent organisational and time management abilities
Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen operations
Experience working in a fast-paced a la carte environment
A creative and innovative approach to menu planning and food presentation
A professional, reliable, and customer-focused attitude
Relevant culinary qualifications
Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
Current First Aid Certificate
