About the role:  

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Café Manager to lead our café and mobile coffee cart operations. This hands-on role will oversee daily operations, service delivery and a small team, while creating an inclusive environment that supports people with intellectual disability to build practical hospitality and workplace skills. 

You will maintain high service standards, drive operational and commercial outcomes, support a positive workplace culture, and help promote the café through social media and community engagement. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the café and coffee cart, ensuring high service standards, smooth operations, positive customer experiences, and participant development opportunities. 

  • Team Leadership: Lead, develop and support the hospitality team through effective rostering, training, supervision, performance management and fostering a positive team culture. 

  • Financial Management: Manage budgets, financial performance, cash handling and cost control to support sustainable and profitable operations. 

  • Inventory & Supplier Management: Oversee stock control, supplier relationships and purchasing to maintain service continuity and minimise wastage. 

  • Compliance, Food Safety & OHS: Ensure compliance with food safety, WHS and organisational requirements, maintaining safe work practices and accurate documentation. 

  • Marketing & Promotion: Drive marketing, social media, community engagement and promotional activities to increase customer engagement, visibility and business growth. 

About you:  

You are a results-driven, hands-on leader who takes initiative, tackles challenges head-on, and ensures the café is both impactful and financially sustainable. 

You bring: 

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a café or restaurant management role  

  • A genuine passion for social impact, with experience supporting people with disability to develop practical workplace skills, alongside the ability to deliver strong commercial and operational outcomes 

  • Strong commercial understanding, including experience managing budgets, stock control, cost of goods and financial performance 

  • Experience leading, developing and motivating teams, with the ability to create a positive and encouraging culture 

  • Barista qualification and strong hands-on barista experience  

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, participants and stakeholders 

  • Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm and adaptable in busy environments 

  • Proficiency using POS systems and relevant software 

  • Flexibility to work across varied shifts including weekends and public holidays

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to get one)  

  • Current Food Safety, Hygiene and WHS certifications 

  • Current First Aid & CPR certification 

  • Working with Children Check (or ability to get one) 

  • Current Victorian Driver's License 

  • Evidence of your right to work in Australia
