PLAYFORD CITY SOCCER AND COMMUNITY CLUB INCORPORATED t/a Angle Vale Tavern is a family friendly community venue offering quality tavern dining, bar service and a welcoming atmosphere for locals, visitors and sporting club members. We are currently seeking a full-time Chef to join our team, with the role based in Angle Vale, SA. This position is 38 hours per week, and the ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of relevant experience and hold a Diploma in Hospitality Management. A competitive salary of $76,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation, is on offer.

Task & responsibilities
- Plan and organise daily food preparation and cooking activities across the tavern kitchen.
- Prepare and cook a wide range of menu items, including steaks, schnitzels, burgers, pizzas, pasta, seafood, salads, roasts, children’s meals, sides, sauces and desserts.
- Assist the Head Chef with menu planning, portion control, food costing, stock usage and seasonal menu changes.
- Estimate food requirements, assist with ordering supplies and ensure adequate stock is available for daily service and peak trading periods.
- Receive, check and store food deliveries, ensuring quality, quantity, temperature and food safety standards are met.
- Monitor the quality, taste, temperature and presentation of dishes during preparation, cooking and service.
- Prepare ingredients by trimming, portioning, marinating, cutting and organising meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces and garnishes.
- Cook meals using grills, fryers, pans, ovens and other kitchen equipment according to venue standards.
- Prepare meals for customers with dietary needs, including gluten friendly, vegetarian, vegan and dairy free options, while managing allergen risks.
- Communicate with the Head Chef, Duty Manager, kitchen team and front of house staff about food preparation, special requests, service timing and stock availability.
- Guide junior kitchen staff, cooks, apprentices and kitchen hands on cooking methods, plating standards, safe equipment use and hygiene procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards across all kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, storage areas and preparation benches.
- Complete delivery checks, temperature checks, stock rotation, labelling and food safety records as required.
- Report hazards, incidents, unusual service issues or food safety concerns to the Head Chef or Duty Manager.
- Support cost control by managing portion sizes, reducing waste and using ingredients efficiently.
- Assist with preparation for functions, sporting club activities and high volume service periods.
- Act in the Head Chef’s role when required by coordinating kitchen workflow, allocating tasks and maintaining service standards.
