The Chef will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting efficient daily service. The successful candidate will work closely with management and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations while maintaining consistency in taste, presentation, and customer satisfaction.

Task & responsibilities

  • Assist with menu planning, food costing, and estimating ingredient requirements.
  • Prepare and cook a range of Indian dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Ensure meals are presented attractively and prepared consistently.
  • Supervise and guide kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchenhands.
  • Train team members in food preparation techniques, kitchen procedures, and food safety practices.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure stock availability for daily kitchen operations.
  • Work with management to introduce new dishes and improve menu offerings.
  • Coordinate with front-of-house staff to support efficient and timely food service.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

 


Qualification & experience

  • Relevant studies or qualifications in Commercial Cookery or a related field must be completed.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of relevant work experience as a Chef.
  • Strong understanding of Indian cuisine, spices, and cooking techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and workplace safety standards.
