BAKERY MANAGEMENT PTY LTD, the primary employing entity for the LEPI Group, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join the team at The Organic Kitchen, located in Griffith, ACT.

The Organic Kitchen is the newest addition to the rapidly emerging LEPI Group, a hospitality group operating multiple cafés, bakeries, and food venues across Canberra. The venue focuses on a café-style organic wholefood menu, offering fresh seasonal meals, artisan bakery products, wholesome ingredients, and premium customer experiences.

This role will suit a passionate and motivated Chef who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and has a genuine passion for fresh produce, healthy café dining, and high-quality food preparation.

Task & responsibilities

As a Chef, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and cooking a wide range of café-style organic wholefood meals, breakfast dishes, lunch service items, salads, bowls, and seasonal menu offerings
  • Ensuring food preparation and presentation is maintained to a consistently high standard
  • Assisting with menu planning and development in collaboration with management and senior kitchen staff
  • Managing food preparation, portion control, and service during busy periods
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering and inventory management
  • Ensuring all food products are stored, handled, and prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations and equipment
  • Assisting in minimising food waste and maintaining kitchen efficiency
  • Training and supporting junior kitchen staff where required
  • Working collaboratively with front-of-house and bakery teams to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Safely operating and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment

Qualification & experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen or hospitality environment
  • Strong knowledge of café-style food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety practices
  • Experience working with fresh produce and wholefood-style menus will be highly regarded
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and public holidays where required
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for quality food and hospitality
  • Relevant qualifications such as Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery are preferred but not essential for candidates with strong practical experience
