Task & responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of café-style dishes according to recipes and business standards

• Assist with menu planning and development of seasonal or daily specials

• Ensure consistent food quality, portioning, and presentation

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen and food preparation areas

• Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations

• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory management

• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service

• Minimise food wastage through effective portion control and stock rotation

• Assist in maintaining efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods

Qualification & experience

• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen or café environment

• Relevant qualification such as Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent preferred

• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations

• Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
