About Us

Elsy is an ethical organisation dedicated to providing quality, individualised and innovative support services to people with a disability. We take a collaborative approach to working with participants to ensure they are enjoying a lifestyle they choose within their home and the wider community. We support independence, embrace innovative practice, and are committed to reinvesting profits into quality care delivery.

About the Roles

We are currently recruiting for two equivalent leadership positions within our team. Both roles sit at the same classification level and carry the same scope of leadership responsibility — the difference is where you lead.

House Leader

As a House Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of an assigned Supported Independent Living (SIL) home. This includes providing leadership and guidance to a team of Disability Support Workers, ensuring high-quality support delivery aligned with participant needs and NDIS requirements. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe and supportive home environment, monitoring compliance with support plans, assisting with coordination of rosters, and fostering strong relationships with participants, their families, and external stakeholders.

Community Leader — New Role

As a Community Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of community-based participants across the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie region. This includes providing leadership and guidance to a team of Disability Support Workers delivering community access, in-home supports, and day programs, ensuring high-quality support delivery aligned with participant needs and NDIS requirements. You will play a key role in monitoring compliance with support plans, assisting with coordination of rosters, and fostering strong relationships with participants, their families, and external stakeholders.

Both roles include a mix of active support shifts alongside dedicated administration time, so you can lead from the floor and stay on top of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps your team and participants thriving.

Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, you will:

  • Oversee the daily operations of your service area to ensure smooth, person-centred service delivery

  • Provide hands-on leadership, supervision, and mentorship to support workers

  • Implement and regularly monitor individual support plans, behaviour supports, and risk management strategies

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation including progress notes, incident reports, participant plans, and shift handovers

  • Uphold compliance with NDIS and organisational standards across all service delivery areas

  • Coordinate and adjust staff rosters to ensure adequate shift coverage and continuity of care

  • Participate in the on-call rotation to support the wider team in after-hours matters

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, families, guardians, and service providers

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by providing feedback and supporting training and development within the team

  • Attend leadership and team meetings and escalate concerns appropriately

About You

You are a strong, people-focused leader who is passionate about creating a supportive, empowering environment for both staff and participants. You are reliable, proactive, and skilled at balancing administration, people management, and hands-on support. You thrive in a team culture and are driven by quality and accountability.

Essential Criteria

  • Strong understanding of the NDIS, including compliance, and reporting requirements

  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and support a team of Disability Support Workers

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with participants, families, and external stakeholders

  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and respond to shifting needs

  • Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or Leadership (or equivalent experience)

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification

  • Valid Driver’s Licence

Desirable

  • Experience in managing or leading a team supporting participants in a disability support setting (SIL, community access, day programs, in-home, or ILO)

  • Experience using rostering and case management systems such as Flowlogic

  • Previous experience coordinating rosters or operations in a disability support setting
