This role involves pouring, spreading, smoothing and finishing concrete for structures such as footings, retaining wall bases, drainage headwalls, slabs and civil infrastructure.

Task & responsibilities

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

• Placing and screeding concrete to required levels and gradients on commercial and civil sites 
• Compacting, shaping and finishing concrete surfaces to project specifications 
• Setting up formwork and positioning steel reinforcement for retaining wall bases, headwalls and civil infrastructure 
• Securing structural fittings such as anchor bolts and steel plates into freshly poured concrete 
• Creating control joints and edge profiles with appropriate hand tools 
• Using power trowels to achieve specified surface textures and finishes 
• Applying curing compounds and protective coverings to control moisture loss and ensure concrete strength 
• Sawing contraction joints into cured slabs using angle grinders and power cutting equipment 
• Grinding and abrading exposed or vertical surfaces to achieve a clean finish where required.

Qualification & experience

Minimum qualification requirement: Compulsory secondary education (completed).

At least one year of relevant full-time work experience in the last 5 years may substitute for the formal qualifications.

Work experience requirement: The successful applicant will have at least 1 year of highly relevant full-time work experience in the last 5 years, undertaken in Australia. If the applicant has not undertaken the 1-year work experience in Australia, they must have 2 years of work experience.
