Due to growth, Altitude1148 is seeking a Cook on a full-time basis. We are located at Bulli Tops, NSW 2516. The role is to prepare, cook, season, plate and present high-quality dishes in accordance with our menu. The duties include prepare ingredients; use cooking equipment; cook dishes; season dishes; portion foods; plate dishes; ensure standards in taste and presentation; keep cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen; store ingredients properly; and work with chefs and the kitchen team to ensure efficient kitchen operations.


Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $78,000 to $84,000 per annum, plus superannuation.


Task & responsibilities

  • Assist with menu planning, portion control and estimating food requirements to support cost management and profitability with the Headchef.
  • Check ingredient supplies, report shortages to Headchef and ensure correct storage and stock rotation.
  • Prepare and cook menu items across restaurant and function services, maintaining consistency, quality and presentation to Altitude1148’s standards.
  • Prepare and coordinate food production for weddings, corporate events and private functions, including early kitchen setup, service delivery and post-event pack down to ensure smooth end to end operations.
  • Marinating meats with spices to ensure dishes are prepared promptly during peak service periods while maintaining performance under pressure.
  • Prepare, portion and pack curry products for distribution to IGA supermarkets within the group, maintaining recipe standards, labelling accuracy and food safety compliance.
  • Preparing food as per the dietary requirements of the customers.
  • Manage and train the kitchen hand staff on cooking techniques, kitchen procedures and hygiene standards. 
  • Assist in general kitchen duties such as washing dishes, utensils, pots and pans.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, WHS and hygiene standards at all times, adhering to the cleaning schedules and procedures established by management.

Qualification & experience

The successful candidate will need to have a relevant trade qualification in cookery or a related field; one year of full-time relevant experience in a full service dining restaurant featuring Australian food and different international flavours; understanding of the cookery industry, knowledge of food safety and kitchen health regulations; strong cooking, seasoning, plating and portioning skills; ability to working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining standards; ability to follow recipes and kitchen procedures; teamwork and communication skills to work with other kitchen staff. Available to work on the weekends, public holidays
