HYD Foods Pty Ltd trading as High Street Indian Restaurant is seeking an experienced Cook to join its kitchen team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, cooking, kitchen operations, and maintaining food quality standards while working in a busy Indian restaurant environment.

Task & responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a range of authentic Indian dishes in accordance with restaurant recipes and quality standards
• Prepare ingredients including cutting, marinating, seasoning, and portioning meat, vegetables, and other ingredients
• Operate kitchen equipment and maintain organised workstations
• Present and garnish dishes to ensure consistency and visual appeal
• Prepare curries, sauces, rice dishes, tandoori items, appetisers, and other menu items
• Monitor stock levels and assist with stock rotation and storage procedures
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards
• Assist with opening and closing procedures of the kitchen
• Work collaboratively with the Chef and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service operations
• Ensure food preparation and cooking processes meet quality and safety standards

Qualification & experience

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher qualification preferred
• At least 1–2 years of relevant work experience in a café or restaurant environment
• Experience preparing Indian cuisine and working with traditional Indian cooking methods
• Knowledge of curries, sauces, spices, tandoori cooking, and food preparation methods
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
• Good communication and teamwork skills
