We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team on a 6-month contract based in Sydney CBD. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys solving complex data challenges, and can deliver high-quality data solutions with a strong service mindset.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and optimise data pipelines and platforms that support analytics and business decision-making. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to translate technical concepts into actionable insights and deliver scalable data solutions using modern cloud technologies.
  
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines and integration solutions
• Work with Azure-based data platforms including Data Lake, Data Factory, and Databricks
• Manage and optimise relational databases and data storage solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile delivery practices
• Build and consume REST APIs for data integration
• Apply data governance, security, and best practices across all solutions
• Support continuous improvement of data platforms and processes

  
Core Experience

• Demonstrated experience (3+ years) developing and maintaining data pipelines and integration processes
• Solid background (3+ years) working with relational database systems
• Proven experience (3+ years) delivering data solutions using Databricks
• Hands-on experience building and deploying solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks and delivery practices
• Relevant tertiary qualification in technology, business, or a related field
• Exposure to the real estate or funds management industry is advantageous

  
Technical Capabilities

Highly proficient in:

• Azure Data Lake for scalable data storage
• Azure Data Factory for data orchestration and integration
• Databricks for data processing and analytics
• Azure SQL Database for structured data management
• Writing and optimising SQL scripts
• Integrating and working with RESTful APIs

Working knowledge of:

• Metadata-driven ETL approaches (e.g., Altis or comparable frameworks)
• Data warehousing concepts and best practices
• Data visualisation platforms such as Power BI or similar tools
• Principles of data security, governance, and compliance
