Admissions & Discharge – Day Surgery Centre

About the Role Our client, a well-established Day Surgery Centre in Port Macquarie is seeking a compassionate and highly organised Registered Nurse (RN) or Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (EEN) to join their perioperative team in an Admissions and Discharge role.

This position plays a key part in ensuring a smooth, safe, and positive patient experience through pre-operative admissions and post-operative discharge processes.

You will be the welcoming face of the facility, supporting patients and their families through what can often be an anxious time, while ensuring all clinical and administrative requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities

• Complete pre-operative admissions, including patient assessments and documentation
• Prepare patients for surgery in line with clinical protocols and theatre schedules
• Provide clear, supportive pre- and post-operative patient education
• Coordinate efficiently with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff
• Manage post-operative recovery assessments and discharge procedures
• Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Maintain high standards of infection control and patient safety
• Deliver a calm, reassuring, and patient-centred experience

About You

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (EEN)
• Previous experience in a perioperative, surgical, or day surgery setting (preferred)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• A patient-focused, empathetic approach to care
• Strong team player with a proactive attitude
