The Role

As the Deputy Director Explosive Ordnance Storage and Distribution, you will play a key role in the successful ongoing management and performance of the Explosive Ordnance Services Contract (EOSC). The EOSC is a strategic partnership between Defence and the contracted service provider that manages the storage and distribution of ADF Explosive Ordnance, nationwide.

The role leads two functional areas: Operations, which ensures the effective delivery of logistic services to users, and Contract Assurance, that ensures these services are delivered in accordance with a range of Contract, legislative and policy requirements. It is a busy role that requires excellent task management, communication, and a focus on results.

Duties for the role include but are not be limited to:

  • Providing strategic management of the EO Services Contract and its deliverables;
  • Lead change in the EO Services Contract space to meet evolving Defence requirements;
  • Coordinate the delivery of logistics services by the EO Services Contract to the ADF and other customers;
  • Use of judgement and initiative to resolve issues and risks associated with the delivery of services by the EO Services Contract;
  • Engage with the contracted service provider to monitor Contract performance and outcomes required in support of ADF needs;
  • Ensure the contracted service provider acts and complies with all National, State and Defence legislation and policies;
  • Engage with key ADF customers and a wide range of other Defence stakeholders;
  • Attend and represent the Directorate at meetings with an array of stakeholders both ADF and civilian, internal and external to Defence.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team

The Directorate of Logistics - Explosive Ordnance comprises of four functional areas in support of ADF explosive ordnance storage and distribution; Contract Management, EO Licensing, Facilities Planning and Delivery, and Logistics Capability Planning. In this role, as the Deputy Director Explosive Ordnance Storage and Distribution, you will lead a contract management team supporting and reporting to the Director of Logistics - Explosive Ordnance.

Our ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to fulfil the following criteria:

  • Solutions driven with a willingness to take ownership of tasks;
  • Contract management and delivery experience, or operations management experience;
  • An ability to interpret complex information from a range of regulations, procedures, policies and contract terms;
  • Be able to interrogate and investigate multiple sources of data to arrive at, and support decision making;
  • The ability to juggle competing priorities, an attention to detail and be results orientated;
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to engage confidently with various stakeholders to achieve agreed outcomes.

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
