The role:

Leisure Accommodation Collective Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented full-time Accountant to support the financial operations of our multi-property hospitality group. This role is responsible for maintaining strong financial controls and supporting the smooth delivery of finance and accounting functions across the business.

The Role

The Accountant is responsible for organising, directing, and controlling the day-to-day accounting processes and financial reporting. This role is central to maintaining compliance with accounting standards and statutory obligations while supporting business performance.

Working closely with the Financial Controller and senior accounts team, the role contributes to the overall financial health of the organisation, ensures deadlines are met, and provides accurate information to management and regulatory bodies.

Benefits

This is a full-time position with a generous salary on offer between $80,000 - $90,000 per annum plus superannuation, commensurate to experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records and supporting documentation, ensuring completeness of financial data.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial documentation.
  • Under the direction of the Financial Controller, compile and issue scheduled financial reports and statements for consideration by the board of directors, senior management, shareholders, and regulatory authorities.
  • Conduct internal audits, liaising with external auditors, and ensuring the accuracy of financial information.
  • Assist in managing budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to support business operations and strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor financial performance, identifying areas for cost reduction, and improving efficiency.
  • Undertake financial analysis and investigations to support management decision-making on matters such as business structures, capital financing, taxation strategy, and organisational planning.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, statutory requirements, and accounting standards.
  • Prepare tax returns for lodgement ensuring accuracy, compliance with relevant taxation legislation, and timely submission to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
  • Assist with end-of-month and end-of-year close accounting processes, including data preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and established financial procedures.
  • Assist with yearly audit queries.
  • Support the Financial Controller in shaping and updating the organisation’s financial management practices, including budgeting frameworks and accounting guidelines.
  • Support the establishment and ongoing management of accounting platforms, including advising on suitable software solutions and their application to the organisation’s financial operations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax and superannuation requirements, including PAYG, superannuation contributions, and leave accruals.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.
  • At least one year of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting.
  •  Strong knowledge of accounting standards, taxation, superannuation, and payroll legislation.
  • Financial acumen, including budgeting and performance analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in accounting and payroll software; advanced Excel skills desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise across departments.
  • Commitment to compliance, internal controls, and maintaining a high standard of integrity.
