The role:

Job Summary:

The Accountant provides essential support to the finance department at Lhere Artepe Supermarkets. This full-time permanent role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts transactions, supporting payroll functions, and assisting with month-end procedures. The position is suited to someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to process accuracy and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and examining financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Analysing financial reports to provide insights on operational efficiency, financial performance, and budgetary controls.
  • Prepare, maintain and present management reports for the business including maintenance of the product costing system and the sales reporting system 
  • Providing financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to assist in business planning and decision-making.
  • Maintaining accounting records and systems in accordance with statutory requirements and company policies.
  • Cash management, including oversight of debtors and creditors 
  • Timely and accurate processing of Payroll and the maintenance of accurate payroll records
  • Advising on the selection and application of accounting policies and financial reporting standards.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • End of month and year reporting including the preparation of BAS, FBT Returns, Payroll Tax lodgements and other tax obligations 
  • Conducting internal audits to assess the effectiveness of financial and operational systems.
  • Liaising with auditors, taxation authorities, and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all legal and reporting obligations.
  • Preparing tax returns and ensuring timely lodgement of statutory returns.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential business and personal information with strict confidentiality, tact and discretion

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with high attention to detail.
