We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Agricultural Technician to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate for the position must have skills, expertise and experience as an agricultural technician, including qualification as an agricultural technician and specifically a vast array of experience with broadacre farming practises used by the Crichton Vale business.

Qualifications and Experience required:

To qualify for this position, you will have a Diploma of Agriculture (AHC50122) (or equivalent) OR relevant experience (minimum 2 years’ experience in broadacre agriculture and as an Agricultural Technician).

The main duties of the position will include, but will not be limited to:

• Examination of soils to determine effective use of nutrients for croppings and/or pastures for livestock
• Analysis of soil sampling data and determining fertiliser requirements
• Assist in understanding of cropping methods for optimum land usage
• Collection of samples from livestock
• Inspection of crops during the cropping season to help determine required treatment (pesticides and herbicides)
• Assist in cropping plan based upon crop rotation knowledge and soil characteristics
• Assist in controlled breeding experiments to develop improved crop and livestock strains
• Provide technical support & advise on aspects of agriculture
• Record data pertaining to experimentation, research, or animal care
• Collate and prepare data summaries, reports, or analysis
• Assemble laboratory or field equipment when needed for experiments or testing.

Skills also required in position:

• Genuine interest in commercial crop science & agronomy
• Excellent time management & organisational skills
• Must know how to use logic & reasoning to identify the strengths & weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
• Good writing & speaking skills

Remuneration/Salary:

• $76,515 + superannuation.
