The Carpenter is responsible for managing the daily execution of carpentry tasks, ensuring the construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures are carried out to a high standard. They interpret blueprints, measure materials accurately, use a range of tools and machinery, and comply with building codes and site safety protocols. The Carpenter plays a critical role in delivering quality construction outcomes through precision, craftsmanship, and teamwork.

Task & responsibilities

Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and procedures required for building tasks.

Construct, erect, and assemble frameworks, walls, floors, roofs, and other structural elements using wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials.

Install structural and decorative fixtures, such as wall framing, partitions, roof trusses, and ceilings, on residential or commercial sites.

Build and position formwork for concrete foundations and structural supports, ensuring accuracy and durability.

Fit, fasten, and secure materials using appropriate hand and power tools, ensuring structures are plumb, level, and aligned.

Renovate and repair existing wooden structures and fixtures, restoring functionality and appearance.

Perform work at elevated heights and on scaffolding, adhering to all safety guidelines during framing and installation activities.

Comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and established quality standards in all phases of construction and repair work.

Qualification & experience

Proven experience as a Carpenter or similar role in residential or commercial construction.

Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent trade qualification (essential).

Strong understanding of Australian building codes and safety practices.

Skilled in the use of carpentry tools, machinery, and materials.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
