We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef who will take a hands-on role in food preparation, quality control, and kitchen operations across our Tarneit location, with occasional rostered shifts in our Laverton branch as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare authentic Indian menus, estimating food and labour costs
- Supervise kitchen operations, ensuring consistency and efficiency
- Monitor and maintain food quality, hygiene, and presentation
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of Indian dishes, including biryanis, curries, and tandoori items
- Discuss food preparation issues with kitchen and restaurant staff
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and WHS regulations
- Train and guide junior kitchen staff where required
- Maintain stock control and ensure optimal storage practices
- Innovate and suggest improvements to menus and preparation techniques
🎓 Qualifications and Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years’ full-time experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Relevant Certificate IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) preferred
- Strong experience in Indian cuisine, particularly biryani and tandoori preparation
- Excellent knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety standards
- Ability to manage kitchen operations and work under pressure
- Good communication and team management skills
