We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join 11 Lonsdale Pty Ltd -  Assembly Canberra, the People’s Pub.

Task & responsibilities

• Plan and assist in designing menus, seasonal specials, and estimating food and labour requirements
• Prepare, cook, and present dishes consistently to high standards across all sections of the kitchen
• Order, manage, and rotate food supplies to ensure freshness, portion control, and minimise waste
• Monitor and maintain quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations, and demonstrate correct procedures to kitchen staff
• Discuss food preparation requirements with the Head Chef, Managers, and kitchen/waiting 
• Provide guidance, demonstrate techniques, and assist in training junior kitchen staff when required
• Support a positive and collaborative kitchen environment, contributing to efficiency and service excellence

Qualification & experience

• Minimum of one year proven full-time experience as a Chef in a high-volume or fast-paced kitchen environment
• Formal qualifications in Commercial Cooker/ Kitchen Management (Certificate IV or equivalent) and additional qualifications in Hospitality Management (Diploma level or equivalent) required
• Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and strict adherence to hygiene and safety practices
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure while working collaboratively as part of a professional kitchen team
• Strong communication skills with the capacity to identify and resolve problems quickly and effectively
• Demonstrated flexibility with a positive, can-do attitude, and availability to work across a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
