ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Clinical Coder to join our Clinical coding team on a full-time/part time basis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Undertake accurate and timely clinical coding.
Assign codes within the most current standards and guidelines in accordance with the Australian Coding Standards (ICD-10-AM 12th Edition).
Reviewing the DRG allocation to ensure the DRG allocated accurately reflects the episode’s resource intensity.
Responding to internal and external coding audits.
Work across multiple Hospitals with a wide range of case mix.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Bachelor of HIM or the completion of HIMAA Intermediate/Advanced coding course.
A good understanding of the Australian Coding Standards (ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS Thirteenth Edition) and ability to assign correct codes in line with the principal diagnosis.
Understand 3M Grouper to classify patient records and evaluate the accuracy of clinical data.
Demonstrated good understanding of anatomy, physiology, diseases and pathological processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively independently and within a small team environment.
Desirable Criteria
Experience using a Webpas patient information system.
Experience using Turbocoder.
Sound knowledge and understanding of health fund contracts in relation to clinical coding.
Good time management skills and ability to prioritise work in accordance with deadlines.
