Clinical Specialist - Orygen Youth Health
The Royal Melbourne Hospital

  • 2 x Part Time, Ongoing roles based in Weribee and/or Sunshine
  • Senior Team Leader role to a collaborative and supportive clinical team
  • Influence service development at local, national, and international levels

Position Summary:

The Royal Melbourne Hospital, one of Victoria's largest and most respected health services, is seeking a Senior Clinician to join a specialised youth mental health stream (HYPE) —an innovative and growing service supporting young people at risk of or experiencing psychosis.

The HYPE stream delivers early intervention for young people with borderline personality disorder, other personality disorders, and co-occurring mental health issues. It aims to support social and vocational recovery, promote wellbeing, and reduce the impact of mental illness through Relational Clinical Care—comprising assertive case management, psychiatric care, Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), family work, and vocational support.

Based primarily at the Visy Cares Hub in Sunshine and supporting services in Melton and Wyndham, this position offers the opportunity to lead a clinical team, influence service development, and contribute to local, national, and international mental health innovation.

This part-time, ongoing role is open to an Allied Health Grade 4 Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, or Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 5, with specialist knowledge in evidence-based interventions.

Benefits of joining RMH/Orygen:

  • 5 weeks annual leave plus leave loading!
  • Discounted gym and health facilities with fitness passport!
  • Salary packing options, earn up to $12,000 tax free earnings!
  • Join an organisation that lives by its values - Excellence Together, Lead with Kindness, People First

About the role:

  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and training on specialist interventions (e.g. psychological, family, AOD, psychosis, neurodevelopmental)
  • Lead and manage a clinical team, overseeing client allocation, critical incidents, and clinical reviews
  • Develop and implement a service delivery model for the Clinical Stream, with involvement in research and training
  • Deliver high-quality clinical care, including case management and specialist interventions
  • Conduct assessments, treatment, crisis intervention, and family work
  • Ensure client-focused, best-practice care and complete required documentation
  • Lead clinical review meetings and provide consultation to other Orygen streams
  • More info: www.oyh.org.au

About you:

  • Formal bachelor qualification in Occupational Therapy or Psychology or Nursing or Social work
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in clinical practice within the mental health field, including young people experiencing mental health disorders
  • A proven ability to manage and lead a multidisciplinary team: manage staff resources and ensure high standards of practice through staff supervision, clinical review, training and professional development activities
  • Substantial experience in the application of clinical practice in the mental health field and proven expertise with young people
