The Community Worker will deliver culturally responsive programs for seniors in Victoria, coordinate food relief for low‑income families, elderly migrants, and international students, and support settlement needs through mentoring, information sessions, and targeted referrals. Key duties include conducting needs assessments, developing interventions, linking clients to aged care, welfare, housing, and health services, organising outreach events, building partnerships with councils and multicultural agencies, preparing grant applications, and maintaining regular contact with elderly clients to reduce isolation. The role requires a Diploma or higher in Community Services, Social Work, Welfare, or a related field (or equivalent experience), proven background in community development or welfare support, strong skills in needs assessment and culturally appropriate program design, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, knowledge of health, welfare, housing, and training resources, and cultural competence in working with Filipino‑Australian communities, with bilingual skills considered an advantage.


Benefits

We are offering an attractive salary of between $72,000 to $82,000 p/a plus super depending on experience and other factors to the successful applicant.

Task & responsibilities

  • Deliver culturally responsive programs for seniors in Victoria, including wellness workshops, social gatherings, and aged care navigation support;
  • Coordinate food relief initiatives such as pantry distributions, meal services, and grocery support for low-income families, elderly migrants, and international students;
  • Conduct intake assessments and community consultations to identify barriers faced by the elderly and students, then develop targeted interventions;
  • Refer clients to relevant aged care services, student welfare programs, housing support, and health providers through FCCVI’s network of partners;
  • Organise outreach events and information sessions to raise awareness of available grants, support schemes, and community services for Filipino Australians;
  • Build partnerships with local councils, multicultural agencies, and service providers to expand FCCVI’s capacity in delivering food relief and aged care support;
  • Assist international students with settlement challenges by offering mentoring, legal information sessions, and referrals to education and housing resources;
  • Prepare and submit grant applications to government and philanthropic bodies to sustain and grow FCCVI’s programs in aged care, food security, and student support;
  • Maintain regular contact with elderly community members through home visits, phone check ins, and group activities to reduce isolation and promote wellbeing; and
  • Support the implementation of FCCVI’s community development projects, including grant funded initiatives focused on health, education, and social inclusion.

Qualification & experience

  • Diploma or higher in Community Services, Social Work, Welfare, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Proven experience in community development, welfare support, or related services
  • Strong ability to assess client and community needs and design culturally appropriate programs
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build partnerships
  • Knowledge of health, welfare, housing, employment, and training resource
