Schedule: Full Time

We are seeking a passionate Cook to join our kitchen team at Pipers by the Lake. You will prepare breakfast and lunch dishes with attention to quality, presentation, and consistency. Key duties include food prep, cooking menu items, ensuring hygiene and safety standards, managing inventory, assisting with special dietary needs, and supporting events and functions when required. Must be reliable, able to work flexible hours including weekends, and collaborate well with both front-of-house and kitchen staff.

Task & responsibilities

  • Rigorously inspect and assess all ingredients to guarantee exceptional quality and freshness prior to preparation.
  • Expertly prepare, season, and cook a diverse range of breakfast and lunch offerings, demonstrating advanced culinary techniques and a commitment to excellence.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain a variety of commercial kitchen equipment — including ovens, grills, and fryers — in adherence to best practice standards for safety and efficiency
  • Execute precise plating and presentation of dishes, incorporating refined garnishes and sauces to ensure each plate is visually appealing and consistently meets high aesthetic standards.
  • Uphold stringent food safety and hygiene protocols by correctly storing ingredients and prepared items in temperature-controlled environments.
  • Design and tailor dishes to accommodate a wide range of dietary needs, including gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan preferences, ensuring all guests' expectations are met.
  • Maintain an immaculate, well-organised, and compliant kitchen environment, fostering a culture of cleanliness and operational excellence.
  • Contribute thoughtfully to menu development and recipe innovation, assist with inventory forecasting and stock control, and actively support the training and professional growth of junior kitchen staff and apprentices.

Qualification & experience

  • You must have Certificate IV in Kitchen Management
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is a must
  • Diploma in relevant field is required
  • Relevant experience of 2 years in a similar role
