Disability Support Worker

Empower Living is seeking compassionate, reliable Disability Support Workers to join its team in Canberra (ACT). This is a full‑time, permanent position. The successful candidates will deliver high quality, person‑centered support services under the NDIS, including in‑home assistance, Supported Independent Living (SIL), community access, and mental health support. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Task & responsibilities

• Provide personalized, compassionate support in home‑based environments, SIL residences, and community settings
• Assist participants with daily living tasks: personal care, hygiene, meal preparation, mobility, etc.
• Support mental health needs, emotional wellbeing, and capacity building activities
• Assist with community engagement and social inclusion: transport, appointments, outings
• Complete required documentation, maintain participant records, follow NDIS policies and procedures
• Willingness to work across a 24-hour rotating roster, including weekends, evenings, and overnight shifts

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, or equivalent
• Previous experience in the disability sector, mental health support, or related support work valued
• Current relevant checks: NDIS Worker Screening, background checks, first aid/CPR as required
• Valid driver’s licence and/or ability to travel between client sites
• Strong communication, empathy, patience, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
