About the Role

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Switchboard Fitter to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have a background in busbar bending, PLC wiring, and switchboard construction. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the successful applicant will be involved in the construction of modular switchboards and custom switchboards. Work in tails, layout and wiring of panels, including motor control, PLC, data, and communications, Busbar manufacturing, testing and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construction and wiring of modular switchboards and custom switchboards

  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and general arrangements (GAs)

  • PLC wiring and panel layout

  • Busbar fabrication and installation

  • General electrical works in line with project requirements

  • Commissioning and testing of switchboards (highly regarded)

  • Liaising with customers and suppliers where necessary

  • Ensuring all work is completed in compliance with WHS regulations and company policies

Skills and Experience

  • Fully qualified Switchboard Fitter with a minimum of 5 years' post-apprenticeship experience

  • Prior experience on water infrastructure projects (highly desirable)

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a results-driven mindset

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics

  • Current Red/White Card (mandatory)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong focus on safety and compliance with WHS requirements

  • Experience with fault finding and troubleshooting
