Mechanical Draftsperson

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, internal procedures, and Australian Standards. This role involves close collaboration with mechanical engineers, project managers, and site teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Task & responsibilities

•Prepare detailed drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering work in accordance with specifications and Australian Standards.

•Produce drafting and product design drawings using AutoCAD.

•Assist with project coordination from inception to completion.

•Conduct on-site measurements to ensure design accuracy.

•Support the procurement of materials, estimation, and preparation of quotes.

•Liaise effectively with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.

•Provide administrative support using Excel and the MS Office suite.

•Contribute innovative ideas to new product design and problem-solving.

•Create service drawings to support equipment installation.

•Collaborate with project managers, architects, and consultants to ensure the smooth integration of services.

•Maintain and update drawing registers, ensuring accuracy across all drawing packages.

•Perform complex computations and prepare detailed diagrams.

•Support site teams by providing clear and accurate technical drawings to resolve design issues.

•Organize and supervise the inspection and maintenance of machinery.

Qualification & experience

• Qualification: AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field.
• Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience in a similar industry.
• Extensive knowledge of developing industrial machinery, mechanical systems, and specialized equipment.
• Proficiency in standardized technical drawings and naming conventions.
• Experience working closely with engineers to optimize documentation workflows and enhance project efficiency.
• Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as autonomously.
