The role:

The scope of this role is to serve as a key technical contributor on a range of projects aimed at developing and implementing data-driven and AI-enabled software solutions for DataXLR8's global clientele, with a specific focus on the Australian market. This position requires the ability to handle the full software development lifecycle while working across different time zones and cultural contexts. Address and solve real-world business challenges. 

The Software Engineer at DataXLR8 will play a key role in delivering high-impact AI and data-driven solutions that align with client business objectives. This includes: 

  • Translating client requirements into technical designs and implementable solutions. 
  • Building and maintaining scalable software systems that balance performance with cost efficiency.
  • Supporting DataXLR8’s 12-week Accelerator Program by developing deployable prototypes and production-ready tools.
  • Ensuring solutions integrate seamlessly with client systems and deliver measurable ROI. 
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of DataXLR8’s software development practices, frameworks, and technical standards

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy scalable software solutions for our clients. The role involves working with a team to develop solutions ensuring that projects deliver tangible business outcomes within defined 12-week cycles.


Benefits

Salary range: $90,000 - $100,000 per Annum + Superannuation.


Task & responsibilities

  • Design and develop software solutions and systems: Build modular, client-focused tools (data pipelines, dashboards, validation systems) that are robust and adaptable.  
  • Develop and maintain scalable, cost-efficient AI and data solutions: Optimize architectures for performance and cloud costs; ensure systems handle growth without unnecessary spend.
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle: Engage from requirements to deployment, delivering working solutions within tight cycles (e.g., 12-week Accelerator).
  • Write clean and efficient code: Produce maintainable, well-documented, and performance-optimized code for reliability and cost savings. 
  • Troubleshoot and debug technical issues: Diagnose and fix failures in pipelines, models, or infrastructure; implement monitoring to catch issues early. 
  • Participate in code reviews: Ensure quality, consistency, and best practices while sharing knowledge across the team. 
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies: Track new AI/ML tools and frameworks, evaluate real vs hype, and apply relevant ones to client challenges.

Qualification & experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. A Masters Degree will be an added advantage.

Experience: 2+ years of experience in software development. 

Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go. Experience with cloud platforms. 

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a pragmatic approach. 

Mindset: Focused on delivering measurable business outcomes and a practical, "no-hype" approach to technology. 

Communication: Effective communication skills for collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
