The role:

As a Testing Automation Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Your work will involve building and executing automated test scripts, embedding testing into the development lifecycle, and collaborating closely with developers, QA, and business teams. By strengthening test coverage, minimising risks, and streamlining release cycles, you'll play a key role in boosting productivity, accelerating go-to-market speed, and delivering reliable solutions to customers.

Task & responsibilities

Objectives

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions by implementing and maintaining robust automated testing frameworks.
  • Minimize the risk of defects and regressions through consistent and repeatable test automation practices. 
  • Enhance productivity and efficiency of the testing process by reducing manual efforts.
  • Collaborate with development teams to embed testing into the software development lifecycle, supporting the principles of DevOps and Agile.
  • Improve the speed and accuracy of software release cycles, enabling faster go-to-market delivery.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for web, API, and legacy systems.
  • Create and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts using automated testing tools.
  • Perform regression, functional, and performance testing across multiple platforms.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve test failures to ensure reliability and accuracy.
  • Document test results, defects, and system behavior in detailed reports.

Technical Duties

  • Build and enhance automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, TeamCity, or GitHub Actions.
  • Collaborate with developers and architects to improve system testability and coverage.
  • Conduct accessibility testing and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Use SQL and other database tools to validate backend data integrity during testing.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, QA analysts, and product managers.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in test automation.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions related to testing.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into test scenarios.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive improvements in automation coverage and test reliability.
  • Analyze test metrics to identify trends and areas for optimization.
  • Stay updated with emerging tools and technologies in test automation.

Qualification & experience

Educational Qualifications:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB, Certified Selenium Professional) are a plus.

Minimum of 5-8 years' experience in a similar role is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience in test automation using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, TestNG, JUnit, or similar.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or C#.
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bamboo).
  • Familiarity with API testing tools like Postman or RestAssured. 
  • Good understanding of test management tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, Xray, or similar. 
  • Knowledge of BDD frameworks is highly desirable. 
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.

General Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills to work collaboratively across development, QA, and business teams.
  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive test cases and test scripts.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
