We are a specialty retailer who has a significant presence across Australia and New Zealand. A new central warehouse facility in Mt Waverley VIC, will support distribution of select products and brands across our sizeable store network.  We are seeking an energetic, hands-on, driven and customer centric Warehouse Manager who has a passion and deep understanding of retail.  

The successful applicant is someone who has a strong grasp of all value chain and warehouse operations.  They are someone who leads by example and sets and achieves a consistently high standard. They will also bring to the business a continuous development mindset across all facets of value chain and warehouse operations.     

Reporting to the Head of Merchandise, you must be willing to get things done, love owning every process, contributing your ideas, taking responsibility for any challenge that presents itself and be heavily involved in the day-to-day operations. This position is responsible for leading our warehousing, pick/pack, distribution, freight and logistics operations.  The Warehouse Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe and best practices of the facility are managed and will be required to perform a variety of jobs, tasks or duties as required.  As this is a new role, experience and an ability to grow warehouse operations is a must!

We estimate a typical month in our warehouse will encompass picking, packing, and distributing around 5000 boxes and/or 100-125 pallets per month.  We further estimate a typical month will result in warehousing around 50-70 pallets per month.    We expect all activity associated with warehousing movements and storage to significantly increase over the next 3 (+) years.

 About You

  • Minimum of (2) years’ experience with warehouse management, logistics and operations.

  • Strong organisation and prioritization skills with the ability to simultaneously perform multiple tasks.

  • You have sound knowledge of warehouse operations and process management for inbound and outbound stock movements.

  • You have knowledge of importing and exporting.

  • You are willing to immerse yourself in the culture of the business and understand the impact your decisions will have on the growth of the company across logistics and distribution.

  • You must have discipline, initiative and be self-motivated, noting this role requires ownership of every task at hand.

  • You must possess a high level of attention to detail.

  • Meeting deadlines is a critical expectation of yours.

  • You are a positive person with a can-do attitude.

  • You have a strong ability to ensure the task at hand gets done no matter what challenges arise.  

  • Have a proven track record of process improvements.

  • Confidence and ability in supervision, training and managing warehouse employees.

  • Can operate a forklift and other warehouse machinery as required.

  • Possess a strong understanding of WHSE requirements and warehouse compliance.

  • You lead from the front.  You will be hands on as well as perform multiple administrative tasks on any given day.

  • You relish responsibility, ownership and pride and want to be involved in decision making process but can navigate conversations with all levels of management as required.

  • You appreciate and can adapt your approach to successfully navigate both retail, corporate and warehouse environments.

 About the Role and responsibilities

  • The Warehouse Manager will be the main point of contact for all day-to-day warehouse operations.

  • You will directly champion handling of all inventories, including inwards receiving, picking, packing, and dispatching of stock to the store network across AU and NZ. This will include small shipments, larger shipments, and weekly/monthly replenishment.

  • You will lead and supervise a small team of up to six people, flexing up and down during various times of the year.

  • You are responsible for general warehouse organization, rostering and housekeeping including but not limited to ordering of materials for the warehouse.

  • You will be required to organize couriers and freight requirements for shipments and provide track and trace to the store network and Merchandise Department.

  • You will be required to liaise with carriers and at times, international vendors on inbound deliveries and container arrivals.

  • Establishing and maintaining ongoing processes for receiving, handling and storing goods.

  • You will be responsible to induct and train any new warehouse staff as required.

  • You will ensure Occupational Health and safety (OHS) policies are followed and create a safety-conscious workplace culture that is compliant at all times.

  • You will need to operate forklifts and other machinery to pick, pack and store stock when necessary.

  • You will need to prepare delivery schedules and liaise with Merchandise team to ensure DIFOT of all orders.

  • You will be responsible to maintain commercial paperwork and ensure the most cost-effective shipment of goods to the store network.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of procedures, processes, and policies to align to the goals set forth by the Head of Merchandise.

  • You will liaise directly with Head of Merchandise, providing business and productivity reports as required.

  • You will frequently liaise with the store network on delivery requirements and provide a high level of customer service to all stakeholders, both internally and externally.
