ARC is a Perth-based switchboard manufacturer specialising in the design, manufacture, assembly, testing, and supply of high-quality electrical switchboards for commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and construction projects.
We are entering an exciting growth phase and are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team and help drive technical quality, documentation standards, production efficiency, compliance, and client confidence.
This role is suited to someone who understands the switchboard manufacturing environment, can work closely with workshop teams, and is confident producing professional technical documentation, drawings, ITPs, QA records, and compliance packages.
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with practical switchboard manufacturing and design knowledge.
You will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end technical delivery of switchboard projects, including design review, shop drawings, component selection, technical submissions, production documentation, ITPs, QA checks, testing documentation, and client handover packs.
This is a hands-on engineering role within a manufacturing business. You will work closely with management, estimators, draftspeople, supervisors, electricians, assemblers, suppliers, and clients to ensure our products are delivered to a high technical and professional standard.
Your duties will include:
Switchboard design review and technical support
Preparation and review of shop drawings, single line diagrams, schematics, layouts, and general arrangement drawings
Preparation of technical submissions and equipment schedules
Development and management of Inspection and Test Plans, QA documentation, FAT records, and handover packs
Ensuring switchboards are designed and manufactured in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, client specifications, and project requirements
Supporting compliance with AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000, and other applicable standards
Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal production teams
Reviewing project specifications, drawings, and tender documentation
Assisting with technical clarifications, RFIs, variations, and design coordination
Supporting material selection, procurement, and component approval processes
Assisting workshop staff with technical queries during manufacture
Supporting testing, commissioning documentation, and factory acceptance processes
Identifying design risks, buildability issues, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options
Helping improve internal systems, templates, procedures, ITPs, QA processes, and engineering standards
The successful candidate will have strong technical ability, a practical mindset, and experience working in or around switchboard manufacturing.
You will be confident reviewing drawings, understanding electrical distribution systems, and ensuring documentation is accurate, compliant, and professionally presented.
You will ideally have:
Experience in switchboard manufacturing, electrical distribution, power systems, or a similar electrical engineering environment
Strong knowledge of low-voltage switchboards, MSBs, DBs, MCCs, control panels, and associated equipment
Understanding of AS/NZS 61439 and AS/NZS 3000 requirements
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, schematics, and single line diagrams
Experience preparing or reviewing ITPs, FAT documentation, QA records, and technical submissions
Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
Ability to communicate clearly with workshop staff, clients, suppliers, and project teams
Practical understanding of manufacturing, assembly, testing, and project delivery
Strong computer skills and experience with electrical design/drafting software
A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
The following will be highly regarded:
Experience with AutoCAD, EPLAN, PowerCAD, Simpro, MYOB, or similar systems
Experience with type-tested or verified switchboard systems
Experience with Schneider, NHP, ABB, Hager, Legrand, Terasaki, Siemens, or similar switchgear
Knowledge of protection devices, discrimination, fault levels, cable sizing, metering, CTs, controls, and BMS interfaces
Experience preparing O&M manuals, MDRs, datasheets, and project handover documentation
Previous experience working for a switchboard manufacturer, electrical contractor, or electrical equipment supplier
Full-time role with a growing Perth-based switchboard manufacturer
Opportunity to take ownership of engineering systems, QA, ITPs, and technical documentation
Exposure to a wide range of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects
Supportive management team with a focus on quality, growth, and professional standards
Long-term career opportunity as the business continues to expand
Competitive salary package based on experience
This is an opportunity to join a business where your technical knowledge will have a direct impact.
We are not looking for someone to sit in the background. We are looking for a capable engineer who can help lift the standard of our design, documentation, compliance, production support, and client-facing technical delivery.
If you have genuine switchboard experience and want to be part of a growing manufacturer with strong ambitions, we would like to hear from you.
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience in switchboard design, manufacturing, documentation, ITPs, QA, and electrical engineering.
Only applicants with relevant electrical engineering, switchboard, manufacturing, or electrical distribution experience will be considered.
