V/Line’s purpose is to connect Victorians through safe, reliable, and accessible transport. We believe in giving all Victorians opportunities through travel and transport – connecting them to jobs, education, family and friends, services, tourism and trade.
V/Line is experiencing significant growth and we’re delivering more services, more trains, cheaper fares, and huge projects. With more than 3700 weekly train and coach services, an expansive freight network and unprecedented rail investment, millions of Victorians depend on us to deliver. You could be one of our 3100 committed team members who are up to the challenge.
About the role
As the EPMO Optimisation Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how V/Line delivers projects across business, technology and infrastructure. This is a role for someone who enjoys stepping into complexity, bringing structure where it’s needed most, and creating clarity in environments where priorities evolve and mature over time.
You’ll lead the evolution of our enterprise project delivery ecosystem, strengthening frameworks, optimising governance, uplifting capability, and assisting V/Line investing in the right initiatives at the right time. Working closely with senior leaders, PMOs and delivery teams across the organisation, you’ll use your expertise to guide prioritisation, refine methodologies, and support high quality decision making across V/Line’s diverse portfolio.
This is a role where your influence can be felt organisation wide. You’ll have the opportunity to design, improve and embed the systems that underpin how projects are selected, governed and delivered, ensuring V/Line is positioned to achieve sustainable and strategic outcomes.
About You
You’re a senior PMO professional who thrives in an environment where improvement, uplift and structure are part of the challenge and the reward. You bring deep experience across enterprise level frameworks and governance, a strong commercial mindset, and the ability to translate complexity into simple, actionable insights. You enjoy working collaboratively, influencing diverse stakeholders, and helping an organisation mature its project delivery capability.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Senior-level experience operating in a PMO or EPMO, ideally within a complex or similarly scaled organisation.
Strong capability in designing, improving and embedding enterprise project, program and portfolio frameworks.
Ability to translate complex technical, governance or project delivery concepts into clear, accessible messages for non‑technical and executive audiences.
Demonstrated commercial acumen, including an ability to assess ROI, value and benefits realisation across portfolios.
A practical, adaptable style suited to environments with shifting priorities and diverse stakeholders.
Experience influencing uptake of best-practice methodologies and driving capability uplift across teams.
Exposure to business/technology and infrastructure project environments (infrastructure/rail experience highly regarded but not essential).
If your skills or experience don’t exactly match our listed requirements, we still encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and believe in the potential for growth and development.
