About the role

We are looking for a Export Manager to take end-to-end ownership of how product moves from the kill floor to the customer. You will own the production plan, the shipping schedule and the day-to-day relationship with our Sales and Loadout teams. If you have ever said “what Sales sold, Planning scheduled, Loadout picked and Shipping dispatched — accurately, on time, in full” and meant it, this role is for you.

You will report to the Group Manager – Operations and lead the Production Planning, Logistics and Shipping team across both sites.

What you will be doing

·         Owning the daily and weekly production plan across Whittingham and Young.

·         Planning, booking and executing every domestic and export shipment — vessels, containers, cut-offs and documentation.

·         Issuing and verifying all export paperwork (Bills of Lading, EXDOC, NEXDOC, RFP, MTC, health and Halal certificates).

·         Liaising daily with Sales — confirming ship dates, flagging at-risk orders, publishing a live order-status report.

·         Liaising daily with Loadout — load schedules, walking the floor, signing off every manifest against the Sales order before any container is sealed.

·         Running the daily planning meeting with Sales, Loadout, Operations and QA.

·         Managing carriers, freight forwarders, shipping lines and 3PL cold stores — including rates, contracts and demurrage exposure.

·         Owning OTIF, document accuracy and the freight/shipping/cold-storage cost lines.

What you will bring (essential)

·         Hands-on shipping experience — sea freight, refrigerated containers, export documentation, customs and regulatory clearance (non-negotiable).

·         Hands-on production planning experience — building and adjusting a multi-day plan in a perishable, customer-order-driven environment (non-negotiable).

·         Proven logistics experience — domestic and export freight, cold-chain, 3PL management, carrier rate negotiation.

·         Demonstrated experience leading planning, logistics or shipping teams.

·         A track record of working shoulder-to-shoulder with Sales and Loadout to deliver against committed orders.

·         Strong understanding of international shipping and export compliance (DAFF, AQIS, USDA, China, Halal, Japan, Korea, Malaysia).

·         Proficiency with BSM, One Stop, Business Central or similar shipping/logistics systems.

·         Excellent organisational and written communication skills.

Nice to have

·         Experience in the meat or chilled/frozen food industry.

·         Familiarity with hot-boning operations and international meat trade.

·         Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field.
