Located in Bundoora, a northern suburb of Melbourne, on two campuses, Concord School is a specialist school which caters for students with mild intellectual disability between the ages of 5 and 18 years. Students come from a wide geographical area and a diverse socio-economic background. The Watsonia Campus caters for students aged between 5 and 9 years of age. The Bundoora Campus caters for 9 to 18 year old students. Both campuses are situated in attractive, well maintained grounds with excellent facilities.

The school, with 160 teaching and ancillary staff, has a current enrolment of 420 students. Enrolment is dependent on eligibility criteria as determined by the Department of Education.

Concord School is seeking a Facilities and OHS Manager. This role will be responsible for leading the management of the school’s facilities, grounds and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) systems to ensure a safe, compliant and well-maintained environment for students, staff and visitors. 

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role provides expert support and advice to school leadership on facilities management, risk, compliance and asset maintenance. The position combines hands-on maintenance responsibilities with the coordination of contractors, oversight of compliance systems, and continuous improvement of operational practices.

This role is critical within a specialist school environment, requiring a proactive and solutions-focused approach to maintaining safe and inclusive spaces that meet the diverse needs of students.

Working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:06pm. Attendance outside of standard hours may be required from time to time. Attendance during school holiday periods is required.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to obtain a Light Rigid (LR) Licence and Working Safely at Heights certification

  • Demonstrated commitment to child safety and an understanding of the Child Safe Standards

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience in facilities management, maintenance or a related field, with the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy.

  1. Proven ability to undertake maintenance and groundskeeping tasks, and to effectively engage, coordinate and oversee contractors for works beyond own expertise, ensuring quality outcomes within agreed timelines and budgets. 

  2. Experience in the use of systems such as Microsoft Office, Compass, and DE platforms including AIMS and EduSafe Plus (or the capacity to quickly acquire)

  3. Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, compliance systems and risk management practices

  4. Highly developed organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to prioritise competing demands, manage budgets, and maintain accurate records across multiple platforms

  5. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, in particular the ability to professionally communicate with a wide range of stakeholders in a school environment, and to maintain confidentiality as required
