Job Description
The Australian Stock Horse Society was established in 1971 in Scone, New South Wales with the aim of preserving and promoting the bloodlines of the Australian Stock Horse, recognised for its versatility and superior performance amongst work and leisure breeds.
Today the Society is Australia's largest equine recreational and pleasure association, with a loyal and growing membership of more than 9,300 individuals and in excess of 200,000 registered horses in the Stud Book.
The role of the Finance Manager is to provide excellent financial management, leadership in the Head Office and support to the Chief Executive Officer, while striving to achieve sustained growth in revenue, membership and registrations for the Australian Stock Horse Society (ASHS).
The Finance Officer will:
• Share the vision and values of the ASHS
• Support stability and growth through excellent financial management
• Identify opportunities to enhance the overall financial strength of the ASHS
Demonstrate strong leadership and people skills
Contribute to creating an environment that can deliver high value services to Members and ensure the long term viability of the ASHS
Purpose of the Role
Full end-to-end financial accounting functions of the Society; overseeing administrative functions, including payroll processing, implementation and enforcement of Rules & Regulations and co-ordination of IT support and services.
Support to the Chief Executive Officer and work as part of the ASHS team, contribute to a positive and effective office environment, demonstrate the values of the organisation, and focus on achieving the ASHS strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities
Finance Management & Governance
Oversee the financial functions of the ASHS including all appropriate financial reports and operating statements
Prepare annual budgets in conjunction with the CEO for the Board of Directors, monitor performance and implement appropriate actions
Monitor and manage IT hardware and software services in conjunction with outside support providers.
Prepare the Company's accounts for annual audit process.
Ensure the organisation meets all statutory obligations regarding PAYG, GST, insurance, Super Guarantee and other financial commitments.
Performance of payroll function (fortnightly).
Submitting taxation returns such as BAS, IAS, NSW Payroll Tax and liaison with external advisory accountant
People
Support the team, create an environment where people can perform, provide relevant development opportunities in line with business growth and diversity.
Develop, implement and continuously improve upon organisational and operation policies and procedures in cooperation with other key personnel.
Implement and regularly review statutory obligations including Privacy, WHS, EEO and other legislative requirements.
Manage and support change when required, within the organisation, while maintaining strong customer relationships
