Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all financial operations including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the Bookkeeper to ensure accuracy and efficiency across transactional finance.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
* Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial controls to support business stability and growth.
* Develop and maintain budgeting and forecasting models, providing insights and recommendations to the CEO.
* Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on business performance.
* Oversee payroll, AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and end of month processes.
* Ensure compliance with tax obligations including BAS, PAYG, FBT, and superannuation.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support retail operations, inventory management, and cost control.
* Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and financial best practice across the organisation.
* Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions as required.
* Various other ad-hoc projects as required by business.
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 5 year's experience in a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant role, ideally within retail.
* CA/CPA qualified
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of Australian accounting standards.
* Proven experience managing end to end finance functions in an SME or mid sized business in retail an advantage.
* Hands on leadership style with the ability to mentor and develop a small team.
* High level of proficiency in accounting systems and Excel.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
* Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work closely with the CEO and senior stakeholders.
* Detail oriented, organised, and proactive in identifying improvements.
