About the role

ENERGY CIVIL is seeking experienced and skilled Float Driver to join our team! You will play a critical role in the safe and efficient transport of plant, equipment, and oversized loads across major project sites. This position involves operating a 4 x 8 expandable float, configuring trailers to suit varying load requirements, and completing daily haulage movements over a 100km site footprint. You will contribute directly to the operational success of our national project portfolio.

What you'll be doing

1. Operate 4x8 expandable floats and set the float to the correct configuration for each load

2. Utilise dollies for oversized and heavy‑haul transport

3. Move up to 65 units daily across a large‑scale site spanning 100km

4. Complete long‑haul transport tasks as required

5. Conduct pre‑start inspections and maintain vehicle condition

6. Ensure all loads are secured in accordance with load restraint standards

7. Liaise with site teams to coordinate safe loading and unloading

8. Maintain accurate transport logs and compliance documentation.

What we're looking for

1. 3+ years’ experience as a Float Driver or Heavy Haulage Operator

2. Demonstrated ability to operate and configure 4 x 8 expandable floats

3. Experience with dolly use and oversized load movements

4. Strong understanding of heavy‑haul safety, load restraint, and transport regulations

5. Ability to work autonomously while providing regular updates to management

6. Excellent problem‑solving and situational awareness skills

7. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively

8. HR/HC licence required; MC licence highly regarded

9. Current industry knowledge and experience working on large‑scale civil or infrastructure projects
