About the Role

We are seeking full-time and experienced Pressure Welders to join our team in Karumba, Queensland. The role involves pressure welding, pipe welding, fabrication, assembly, and repair work associated with pressure vessels, piping systems, fabricated metal components, and related engineering projects within workshop and onsite environments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interpret technical drawings, welding specifications, and fabrication plans
  • Perform welding, assembly, and repair of pressure vessels, pipes, and fabricated metal components
  • Perform pressure welding duties in accordance with project specifications and Australian standards
  • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair pressure vessels, pipes, tanks, and fabricated metal components
  • Prepare, align, and fit metal sections, pipes, and components for welding activities
  • Weld and repair pressure vessels, tanks, piping systems, and associated fabricated components
  • Operate welding equipment, fabrication machinery, and hand and power tools safely and efficiently
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure weld quality, penetration, and compliance with specifications
  • Clean, grind, and finish welded components to required standards
  • Carry out repair and maintenance work associated with pressure vessels and piping systems
  • Maintain workplace safety standards and follow safe work procedures at all times
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to support project delivery

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant qualifications and experience aligned with ANZSCO 322312 Pressure Welder
  • AQF Certificate III including at least two years of relevant on-the-job training; or
  • AQF Certificate IV in a relevant trade discipline
  • At least three (3) years of relevant industry experience may substitute for formal qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in pressure welding, pipe welding, and metal fabrication preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding specifications
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety

Selection Criteria: 

  • Relevant welding certificates preferred, however a minimum of 3 years of full-time verified experience in a similar role will be considered
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in pressure welding, pipe welding, and metal fabrication
  • Experience in welding and repair of pressure vessels, tanks, piping systems, and fabricated metal components preferred
  • Must be willing to undertake a welding test to demonstrate competency
  • Ability to obtain or hold “Working at Heights” and “Confined Spaces” tickets. 
  • Ability to work in a drug and alcohol-free environment, with the understanding that random drug and alcohol testing may be required.
