Gungahlin Medical Practice is seeking for  an experienced General Practitioner to deliver high-quality primary healthcare services.

Task & responsibilities

  • Provide primary medical care to patients of all ages — including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, referrals. 
  • Conduct preventive health checks, immunisations, screening, and health promotion / education. 
  • Manage acute conditions and chronic disease (diabetes, hypertension, asthma, etc.). 
  • Conduct minor procedures where applicable (e.g. sutures, wound care, skin lesion checks / excisions). 
  • Undertake women’s / men’s health services (e.g. family planning, antenatal or shared antenatal care, contraceptive insertions/removals). 
  • Perform children’s health services (immunisations, developmental / paediatric assessments). 
  • Maintain patient medical records in compliance with practice and regulatory requirements. 
  • Order / interpret diagnostic tests, follow up on test results with patients. Provide referrals to specialists / allied health providers when required. 
  • Participate in telehealth / online consultations if offered by the practice. 
  • Maintain professional development: attend training, conferences; keep up with medical / legislative standards. 
  • Comply with practice policies, clinical governance, and accreditation processes. 
  • Collaborate with practice staff (nurses, administrative staff, allied health) to provide coordinated patient care. 
  • Adhere to ethical, legal and professional obligations (privacy, informed consent, cultural sensitivities). 
  • Engage with the practice’s quality improvement / audit programs. Manage scheduling / roster responsibilities in line with the other GPs.
  • Provide after-hours or backup cover, if required by the practice. Maintain registrations / certifications (e.g. AHPRA registration, CPR certification).

Qualification & experience

  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • Current AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner.
  • Fellowship with RACGP or ACRRM (or working towards it).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care.
