Are you looking for something a bit different? Maybe the flexibility of working one or two 8-hour days in a rural Wheatbelt setting? 

An Aboriginal Health clinic in Northam are seeking a part time general practitioner to job share.

Located just over an hour from Perth and with a population of 12,000 Northam (MM4) is a great place to practice rural medicine. You have the choice to stay in town, or commute from nearby Perth suburbs.  

The Practice
The clinic is funded so there are no restrictions on how you can provide high quality, integrated primary healthcare across the Wheatbelt. This centre boasts a modern, fully computerised general practice.

There is full time nursing and reception support. You will also be supported by pathology, pharmacy, Allied health services and physiotherapy as well as a visiting general physician.

The practice is funded and supports vulnerable and disadvantaged clients to access the care they need to support improved health outcomes. The patients are significantly Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with the support from the Aboriginal outreach team which the practice also manages.

Northam is home to a well-established, large rural hospital, with a busy emergency department. If you are interested in participating in an emergency roster and have the required credentials and experience to do so, this is absolutely an option for you through the hospital which is only a five-minute drive from the clinic.

The Requirements

  • Ahpra registration and a valid qualification to practice medicine in Australia;
  • FRACGP or FACRRM
  • Experience in Aboriginal health and/or a primary care setting
  • Excellent clinical skills and a thorough understanding of evidence-based medical practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
