About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and values-driven Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to lead and support one of our grounds maintenance teams, including employees supported through the NDIS program.

This is a hands-on role that combines practical grounds maintenance with mentoring, supervision, and individual support to ensure high-quality outcomes for both our clients and employees. You will play an important role in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive work environment while delivering professional grounds maintenance services across a range of sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and work alongside NDIS-supported employees in daily grounds maintenance tasks.

  • Plan and allocate work in line with individual abilities, goals, and support requirements.

  • Provide hands-on training, mentoring, and encouragement in the workplace.

  • Carry out and oversee:

    • Mowing and edging

    • Pruning and hedging

    • Planting

    • Weed control and garden maintenance

    • Litter patrol and general cleaning

  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with WHS requirements.

  • Support employees to build confidence, skills, and workplace independence.

  • Monitor work quality and provide constructive feedback to team members.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, trailers, and vehicles.

  • Work collaboratively with coordinators, support staff, and management.

  • Promote inclusion, dignity, respect, and positive workplace culture at all times.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or litter patrol services.

  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or litter patrol services.

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years' supervisory or team leadership experience.

  • A patient, supportive, and person-centred approach.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

  • Understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Current driver's licence.

  • Ability to lead by example and work within a team environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working with NDIS participants or supported employment programs (advantages).

  • Understanding of NDIS principles and participant support (advantages).

  • Experience in horticulture.

  • Relevant qualifications in horticulture, or a related field.

  • Trailer experience, or chemical accreditation (desirable but not essential).
