Under general supervision the ICT Technician is responsible for College information, communication and technology (ICT) support by assisting with the day to day running of online services, creation and general maintenance of system operations and first level Help Desk support to St Michael’s College Community.  This position is based at the Secondary Campus, Henley Beach but may require work to be undertaken at the Primary Campus, Beverley.

Task & responsibilities

  • Provide timely first- and second-level ICT support to staff and students for hardware and software.
  • Receive, log, prioritise, resolve and escalate ICT incidents and service requests in a help-desk environment.
  • Diagnose and resolve ICT issues relating to devices, applications, operating systems, peripherals, AV and network connectivity.
  • Configure, image, deploy and maintain desktop, laptop and mobile devices.
  • Monitor ICT systems and network components in accordance with SMC ICT protocols.
  • Develop and maintain ICT procedures to support effective and secure system use.
  • Demonstrate and explain ICT systems and applications to staff and students.
  • Provide technical support to students to minimise disruption to learning activities.
  • Independently prioritise workloads and manage competing ICT support demands.
  • Maintain accurate ICT documentation, records and asset registers in line with privacy requirements.
  • Undertake corrective and preventative ICT maintenance, including critical or out-of-hours support as required.
  • Maintain currency with College ICT systems, policies and practices and liaise with St Michael’s College ICT staff as required.
  • Participate in school activities, professional development and performance review processes.
  • Undertake other duties as required by the Principal, Direct Manager or members of the management team.

Qualification & experience

  • A Certificate IV in Information Technologies (or equivalent) and/or relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience in a comparable role. Experience with systems and software used in schools is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience within a School or College environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Products, including Microsoft 365, Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs
  • Excellent communication, listening and negotiation skills
  • Be willing to support for the Lasallian and Catholic Ethos of the College together with a willingness to work as part of a team.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Applicable First Aid Certificate relevant to the role requirements
  • Current and acceptable Working with Children Clearance and screening to work in Catholic Education SA
  • Current valid Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care certificate
