More about the Junior Estimator role at Seymour Whyte
We are a successful civil contracting business who has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world-class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.
Our Estimating team delivers an impressive EOI and tender conversion rate, securing complex, high‑profile projects and playing a pivotal role in shaping winning strategies that set our delivery teams up for success.
We’re seeking a Junior Estimator to join our team at our Eight Mile Plains head office. This is a rare opportunity for a motivated Civil Project Engineer to step into Pre‑Contracts, apply their project delivery knowledge to tender development and receive hands‑on training and development from some of the most experienced estimators in the industry.
In this role, you’ll contribute to a variety of tenders for a diverse range of clients while developing your estimating skills in a supportive, collaborative environment.
If you’re driven, eager to learn, open to feedback and ready to take the next step in your career, we’d love to hear from you.
About the role:
Work closely with the estimating team to prepare accurate tender estimates
and support the development of bid proposals and submission documents for civil construction projects
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors and
suppliers
Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to request quotes and gather
pricing for materials, labour and services
Assist with early‑stage procurement activities on new projects, including
managing RFQs in line with tender programs
Contribute to estimating quantities and costs, identify schedule
discrepancies, and ensure timely completion of tender estimates
Maintain accurate records of correspondence, calculations, and methodologies
throughout each tender process
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
Experience delivering civil infrastructure construction projects
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and
external stakeholders
Effective time‑management and multitasking skills, with the ability to meet
tight deadlines and handle feedback professionally
Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a
high-performing Pre-Contracts team
Many of our projects are located in regional areas, therefore all applicants must hold a current Driver’s Licence and have their own transport.
