Northern Grampians Shire Council is seeking a Library Officer to deliver exceptional customer service and help create a positive and engaging experience for all library visitors. Position objectives

This role is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service, ensuring that patrons and visitors enjoy a positive library experience. 

The Library Officer will deliver high-quality service, offer information and support, assist with library programs, and facilitate access to resources

Key responsibility areas

  • Assist library patrons and community members to source materials and information, borrow, reserve, renew and return library materials.
  • Demonstrate strong computer skills to effectively operate library software and assist patrons with using library computers and personal devices such as smartphones and laptops.
  • Develop and deliver programs and services to the community, including but not limited to storytelling, school holiday programs, housebound services, class visits and related activities/events.
  • File/shelve all library stock correctly to ensure resources are easily accessible.
  • Actively promote library resources to the community.
  • Collect payments for library services and products.
  • Perform, as directed, other duties that are within the limits of the incumbents’ skill, competence and training.

Qualifications and experience

  • Successful completion of Year 10 or equivalent experience in a similar field. 

Selection criteria

  1. Demonstrated numeracy, written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated customer service experience.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of computer hardware and software programs.
