POSITION DESCRIPTION
Southside Montessori School is seeking a passionate and collaborative Montessori-trained guide to join our growing 6–12 program.
Our school is a warm, community-oriented environment offering programs from birth through to 12 years. The 'Loft' program supports children aged 6–12 in a mixed-age setting that emphasises independence, curiosity, and deep engagement with the Montessori curriculum.
This role involves guiding a group of 6–12-year-olds within a prepared Montessori environment, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development. You will work closely with colleagues and families to foster a respectful and engaging learning community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Prepare and maintain a rich, orderly Montessori environment for children aged 6–12
* Present Montessori lessons across the primary curriculum
* Observe and assess student progress and plan accordingly
* Support students' independence, collaboration, and intrinsic motivation
* Maintain clear and respectful communication with families
* Contribute to the wider school community and culture
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* Montessori 6–12 qualification (AMI or equivalent)
* NESA teacher registration (NSW), with Proficient Teacher accreditation preferred
* Current Working With Children Check (NSW)
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* A collaborative and reflective approach to teaching
* Minimum 2 years of teaching experience is required
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
* Experience working in a Montessori environment
* Commitment to long-term community engagement
* First aid certificate and relevant child protection training (or ability to obtain)
SALARY
Salary will be offered in line with the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
