Position Description
Southside Montessori School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support our 6–12 (Loft) program.
Working closely with the classroom guide, you will assist in maintaining a prepared Montessori environment and supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of children aged 6–12. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about Montessori education or looking to deepen their experience in a collaborative, child-centred setting.
Key Responsibilities
Support the classroom guide in maintaining an orderly and engaging Montessori environment
Assist children with their work and encourage independence and responsibility
Help prepare materials and classroom resources
Supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities
Provide general classroom and organisational support
Contribute positively to the school community
Essential Criteria
Minimum of 1-2 years experience working with primary-aged children (6–12 years) in an educational setting
Current Working With Children Check (NSW)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A supportive, reliable, and proactive approach
Minimum of Certificate III in Education Support
Desirable Criteria
Montessori training (6–12) or willingness to undertake training
Experience in a Montessori environment
Interest in child development and progressive education
First aid certificate and child protection training (or willingness to obtain)
Salary
Salary will be offered in line with the Independent Schools NSW (Professional and Operational Staff) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement, commensurate with experience.
