Task & responsibilities
- Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle components using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures
- Repair and replace defective engine components, transmissions, suspension systems, steering mechanisms, and braking systems
- Carry out scheduled servicing and maintenance including oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and filter replacements
- Inspect vehicles and test mechanical systems to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards
- Dismantle and reassemble vehicle engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components
- Perform repairs on fuel systems, ignition systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems
- Conduct wheel alignments, tyre rotations, and suspension adjustments where required
- Use diagnostic tools and workshop equipment safely and efficiently to identify and rectify faults
- Test drive vehicles after repairs to ensure mechanical issues have been resolved effectively
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, and parts used
- Ensure all repair and maintenance work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workplace safety standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
- Assist in ordering, checking, and managing workshop parts and inventory when required
- Work collaboratively with other workshop staff to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction
Qualification & experience
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic in an automotive workshop environment
- Relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent preferred
- Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repair techniques, and mechanical systems
- Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment and workshop tools
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
