A major bank in Sydney is seeking an Observability Engineer for a new next-generation Elastic Enterprise Platform. This is a permanent role.

This role will play a key part in a large-scale migration from Splunk to Elastic, helping modernise enterprise monitoring, logging, and observability capabilities across critical banking platforms.

This role ensures full-stack visibility across infrastructure and applications, enabling proactive monitoring, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis to support operational excellence and business continuity.

Responsibilities:

• Build and implement scalable observability solutions across infrastructure and applications
• Build and maintain dashboards, alerts, and automated monitoring solutions
• Set up and manage alerting frameworks
• Drill into and troubleshoot log ingest pipelines to identify performance issues, failures, and optimisation opportunities
• Troubleshoot complex production issues across Linux environments
• Integrate and optimize Elasticsearch clusters within the new Elastic Enterprise Platform.

Key Skills / Experience

• Hands on Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats)
• Experience setting up and managing alerts, dashboards, and monitoring solutions
• Strong experience troubleshooting and optimising ingest pipelines
• Strong Linux administration experience, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• Openshift and kubernetes - desirable 
• Understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, and SRE principle
